The trio of Tiffany Regan, Matthew Kalcevich and Debra Parsow has years of experience in parks and recreation, and in the past year, all three began new roles serving the public through Omaha’s parks. They bring unique plans and desires to their respective positions.
Hundreds, if not thousands of trees were injured or uprooted in a matter of hours in July 2021. To combat the downed trees and newly naked landscape in many cases, the Omaha Parks Foundation has created the Giving Trees: Helping Restore Omaha’s Canopy initiative, to help raise funds to replant.
I don’t think people realize how many trees are in the city that are ash, and we are set to lose about 14,000 over the next few years due to the emerald ash borer,” Regan said. The city plans to cut down the dying ash trees across the metro. Some trees can be treated but it’s not a cure.
