Sporting Balls Donated to Omaha Parks & Recreation Community Centers

The Omaha Parks Foundation has donated sporting balls to Omaha Parks and Recreation Community Centers after a successful fundraiser that took place in December of last year. A news conference will take place on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 4 p.m. at Adams Park Community Center, 3230 John Creighton Boulevard. Members from the Omaha Parks Foundation will gift the new sporting balls to children at Adams Park Community Center.

The 3rd annual “Pancakes for the Parks” fundraiser took place at Longhorn Steakhouse where over 400 people attended to eat unlimited pancakes. Over $3,000 was raised and used to purchase new basketballs, soccer balls, footballs, tennis balls, and equipment carts to be used at City of Omaha Community Centers.

“The Recreation Division is so grateful for the support of the entire Parks Department from our Foundation. Holding an event to provide Community Center equipment may seem small; however it allows us the ability to focus on other needs within the centers. We always look forward to collaborating with our Foundation. It’s exciting and a huge encouragement to our staff to see the amount of people that love our parks and will pitch in to help when needed,” said Tracy Stratman, Recreation Manager.
