Q: Why should I donate to the Omaha Parks Foundation, Inc.?
A: Established as a nonprofit organization in 2010, the Omaha Parks Foundation’s mission is to bring together the resources necessary to enhance the quality of Omaha’s park system. In private-public partnerships with corporations, foundations, neighborhood associations and other volunteer groups, the Foundation helps support parks and recreation facilities owned by the City of Omaha. The Omaha Parks Foundation operates independently as a private, nonprofit agency registered as a charitable corporation in the State of Nebraska. The Foundation is governed by a Founding Board of Directors.
Q: How does Omaha Parks Foundation interact with the City Parks Department?
A: Omaha Parks Foundation is completely separate from the city parks department. However, the Omaha Parks Foundation works closely with Parks and Recreation projects. Omaha Parks Foundation is responsive to donors and retains great flexibility to pursue unique projects that although valuable to communities and park-goers, are not presently within the City’s priorities and/or budget resources.
